The installation of window tinted film is no longer a requirement for owners of vehicles, residences, and office buildings, but has become a necessity for those who want comfort. In addition, the unpredictable weather in Malaysia causes the demand for tinted windows to be very high.
Before you proceed with the intention of making tinted glass, Vort-X would like to introduce a set of terms that are often used when choosing a dark mirror, namely VLT, IR, and UV, for your information and reference:
What is Visible Light Transmission (VLT)?
“Visible Light Transmission” (VLT) refers to the value of the percentage of light that can penetrate the mirror. Customers will seek tinted mirror film with a lower VLT Tinted value to reduce the amount of light that can penetrate the mirror.
To make it easier to understand, a lower percentage of the VLT tint value will cause the mirror to be darker. According to the Tinted Mirror Application Guide by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), there are VLT specifications that must be followed by private vehicle users in Malaysia.
What is Infra Red (IR)?
Infra-red (IR) refers to the amount of heat that can penetrate the mirror. The high amount of heat that penetrates the glass will cause the interior of the vehicle, home, or office to become hotter. Customers will be suggested to look for tinted mirror film with a higher Infra Red Reject (IRR) value so that the level of heat that can enter through the mirror is lower.
What is Ultraviolet (UV)?
Ultraviolet (UV) refers to the part of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves emitted by the sun. Prolonged exposure to UV radiation can cause chronic health effects on the skin, eyes, and immune system, including two major public health problems: skin cancer and cataracts.
UV tinting acts to filter UV rays so that the skin is not exposed to high UV rays. Customers will be suggested to choose a tinted mirror film with a higher UV tint value of up to 99 percent to guarantee the quality of the tinted mirror.
Hopefully this sharing from Vort-X will help you make smart choices by using quality, pocket-friendly tinted mirror film to protect yourself and your loved ones.
